Driver's Seat

Mid Season Update

We may be slightly past mid-season but with last month's rainout, well here we are. So what happened in the June race? We had our best light to date (.033) and our best ET yet (11.87 @ 111) and yet we didn't make #1 qualifier. Two other drivers did better this month on their reaction time so we only made it to #3 qualifier. Oh well, such is life in racing but it still felt good getting a .50 light for the first time.

So after our test-n-tune passes and qualifying, we lined up again against Mike D. who is a great guy and a lot of fun to race against. Just as I started rolling up to do my burnout, all of my dash and head lights went dim. Great, I thought we threw a belt. Rather than shut down, my temp seemed OK and should be fine for a run so I did my burnout and all of the sudden the lights came back on at normal brightness. Talk about messing with your head. How could a belt re-thread itself on the pulleys? Needless to say I lost my focus and concentration and didn't hit my light. So why does that matter? Well, if I didn't red light, Mike broke out and I would have won that race and gone into a bye pass right to the semi-finals. I guess I will need to find a way to get my head back into the race in quick order next time around. Maybe work on putting my head in the game from after the burnout and while I roll up to the tree.

During our down time, we have been doing some more body work on the car and getting it closer to paint or wrap ready. This car is a long-term project and we are in no hurry to get it show ready. It would be nice to get it a little further down the path but hey, how do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. So we are nibbling away at this project and will keep going. Enough rambling for now as it is time to get back to work on the car. Keep checking back for more updates and to see how we did this month.
